Performance Design Partners (PDP) is a US based international consulting company being founded by two international consulting and training firms (Performance Design Lab and performance design international) that combine their capabilities to offer clients a broad array of methods, tools and expertise in Performance Consulting and Human and Institutional Capacity Development.

Both companies are closely connected to the International Society for Performance Improvement and PDP’s partners participated in the ISPI think tanks to further develop Human Performance Technology.

A considerable number of PDP’s consultants are Certified Performance Technologists.

The two mother companies share the same theoretical foundations and use many of the same models and concepts, but each also brings a different but complementary approach to organizational needs. Therefore PDP probably has the most comprehensive offer in the field that is based on sound methodology and on decades of experience. PDP developed a unique approach bringing consulting experience and expertise in the private sector business community to support Human and Institutional Capacity Development (HICD) in emerging and developing countries

Performance Design Lab (PDL) is a company founded by Geary A. Rummler, Ph.D., author of the book, How to Manage the White Spaces on the Organization Chart, that started the business process movement in the 1990’s. Rummler’s company, the Rummler-Brache Group (RBG), provided the first comprehensive methodology for process improvement, which was based on groundbreaking work at Motorola, GTE and other corporations. During the 1990’s, the Rummler-Brache methodology was widely adopted by other consulting organizations, by universities and colleges, and is today a generic term for business process improvement.

Dr. Rummler sold RBG in the late 1990’s, founding PDL with a group of partners who were leading participants in building the tools and methods practiced at RBG. Back in the lab – the Design Center, located in Phoenix Arizona - PDL continues to evolve and expand the theory base and methodologies first introduced in "Improving Performance" to include breakthrough approaches to management systems, measurement, strategy, IT alignment and organization structure design and implementation. PDL delivers these approaches through their consulting services and training products. Its clientele are Fortune 500 companies and governmental organizations interested in a serious, scientific approach to organizational transformation.

In 2002 Performance Design Lab started to partner with performance design international.

performance design international (pdi) is a consulting and training company. Its work is based on the PDL performance improvement approaches that have been developped further during the collaborative work in PDL’s design center. Specifically pdi expanded the methodology incorporating business dynamics from the Massachussetts Institute for Technology, developed a performance driven training approach that augments the consulting methodology and prepared the ground to integrate both companies’ comprehensive methodological basis into an unmatched HICD approach. Its extensive experience in HICD in developing countries has been brought to the design center and has been combined with both companies’ experience in industrialized countries to develop a state-of-the-art HICD toolkit that allows adaptation to any specific situation and organization.

pdi’s clientele are big international companies as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations.
